The Cayman Islands has its own currency (symbol KYD) but it is fixed to the US dollar. On the island, we call it “CI”. The “street rate” is $1 USD = .80CI or $1 CI = $1.25 USD. A Cayman bank would give you 2% better exchange, but foreign banks will take an additional spread so do not exchange for KYD at home. Bring USD with you for your cash transactions.
All stores, restaurants, taxis, etc. will accept both US and CI but most prices will be displayed in CI (except in some tourist shops and jewelry stores downtown). Credit card purchases will always be transacted in USD and converted at the rate above. If you pay in USD cash, your change will be given to you in CI cash.
The easiest way to think while paying is that $20 USD = $16 CI. Your change will be given to you in CI.
The closest ATM machine is located at the Esso station at 612 West Bay Road (turn left and walk ten minutes). There are also a number of machines located at the bank branches (Butterfield, Scotia Bank and Cayman National) in Camana Bay.
Yes, Laguna Del Mar Cayman has a basic fitness room that is open to guests and equipped with cardio and weight training equipment. We also have a tennis and pickle ball court at the resort. Each condo comes with two paddle boards. A great way to get some exercise out on the water.
Additionally, there are several fitness centers nearby that offer weekly or guest passes.
